What is Butylone?

Butylone (also known as -keto-N-methylbenzodioxolylbutanamine, k-MBDB, or B1) is a cathinone-class synthetic entactogen and stimulant. It is the substituted methylenedioxy equivalent of buphedrone and the -keto analog of MBDB.

Due to methylone’s dwindling availability on the research chemical market, it is widely sold on the street alongside ethylone as a substitute or counterfeit for MDMA and methylone (all of which have come to be referred to as “Molly”). Despite their behavioral and physiological similarities, the subjective effects of butylone and MDMA are not identical.
